Recertification
Individuals who have attained a FIBA AMLCA or CPAML certification, hereafter referred to as Alumni, must demonstrate an ongoing professional commitment to the field of anti-money laundering compliance by satisfying the Recertification requirements every two years.
REQUIREMENTS
A total of 20 continuing education credits (1 credit per hour) must be accumulated within a two-year cycle.
Applicants will not be granted credits for activities completed prior to obtaining their FIBA Certification (or most recent recertification).
Additional credits earned past the required 20 will not roll over to the following cycle.
Continuing education (CE) programs do not require pre-approval by FIBA.
All programs must relate to one or more subject areas of AML.
Credits may only be submitted when the recertification platform is available
(April 1 – June 30).
Participants must upload their 20 credits to their FIBA profile individually.
A payment invoice cannot be created without the approval of the credits.
Participants who have not been recertified for 10 or more years since their initial certification must re-certify in AMLCA or CPAML.
Credits must be uploaded with the specification of whether they are for AMLCA or CPAML. If they are uploaded as CVAA, they will not be considered.
RECERTIFICATION PROCESS
STEP 1: EARNING CE CREDITS
To maintain active status, Alumni must earn and report a total of 20 continuing education (CE) credits every two years. Credits can be earned through training, education, and other professional development activities
STEP 2: LOGGING AND SUBMITTING CE CREDITS
As you earn credits during the two-year cycle, we recommend keeping a file of all documents and records associated with your certification, such as certificates of attendance and proofs of participation. Please refer to the Deadlines table below to submit your credit documentation a minimum of 90 days before your due date. Each submission requires:
● Name of the event
● Provider
● Proof of Attendance
● Brief description of event and content
● Date and duration
When you are ready to submit, you will need to log into your FIBA profile and complete a Credit Request submission (click here to see an example). Please allow four to six weeks from the time FIBA receives your submission for review and approval.
You may periodically check the status of your credit request by logging into your profile, going into “Account + Settings,” and then clicking on the “Certifications/Programs” tab in the “Professional Development” section. Please note that submissions received near the deadline (June 30) may take longer to review due to the higher volume of recertification applications received.
● Log into your FIBA profile
● Complete a Credit Request submission
STEP 3: PAYMENT
Alumni who successfully reach the 20 credit requirement are automatically issued an invoice for the recertification fee of $150 via email. You can view and pay your invoice at any time from within your FIBA profile by clicking on & My Events" under your Quick Links.
Once FIBA payment is received and your recertification is approved, you can download and print a PDF version of your renewed certification from the FIBA portal.
DEADLINES
The deadline for earning and submitting continuing education credits is June 30th of the year of your recertification.
A late fee of $100 will be applied to all applicants who miss the June 30th deadline.
